Baseball Game Preview: Elmira Falcons vs. Molalla Indians

The Elmira Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Molalla Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Elmira's offense. They came up short against North Bend on Friday, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since May 1, 2024.

Meanwhile, Molalla entered their tilt with Astoria on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Fishermen 10-0. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Kyler Dickerson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Dillon Shultz was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. Garrett Brusseau was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Molalla pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Elmira, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
