Baseball Recap: Riverdale Triumphs

Riverdale hadn't done well against Fort Myers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Raiders never let the Green Wave get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Green Wave back in February, they had to take a 4-2 loss.

Logan Ferriera looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Riverdale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deegan Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. David Baugh also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The victory got Riverdale back to even at 6-6. As for Fort Myers, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2.

Coming up, Riverdale will be playing at home against Cypress Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fort Myers, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against North Port on the 10th.
