Preview: Bruce Trojans vs. Vardaman Rams
Bruce is 2-8 against Vardaman since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bruce Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Vardaman Rams at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Bruce focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
After only two points in their last match, Bruce made sure to put some points up on the board against Eupora. Bruce enjoyed a cozy 55-37 victory over Eupora. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bruce.
A'toria Knox was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Laken Corbitt, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Vardaman in a 44-30 victory over Houlka on Tuesday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Vardaman has managed all season.
Bruce's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8. As for Vardaman, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Bruce strolled past Vardaman in their previous matchup on December 5th by a score of 52-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bruce since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
