Softball Recap: San Dieguito Academy Wins Going Away Against Morse

San Dieguito Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Morse on Monday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

San Dieguito Academy got a great performance from Lilly Besemer as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joie Brown, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Early, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

San Dieguito Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive matches.

San Dieguito Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Morse, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Coming up, San Dieguito Academy will host El Camino at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Morse, they are taking a road trip to face off against Crawford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
