Basketball Recap: Orlando Science Comes Up Short

Orlando Science was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Merritt Island Christian Cougars. The Orcas were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Merritt Island Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trey Nevad, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Nevad has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last eight times he's played. Connor Angstadt was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Orlando Science's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Merritt Island Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Orlando Science wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-14 win against Central Florida Leadership on the 15th. As for Merritt Island Christian, they will challenge Real Life Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
