Basketball Recap: Mason Mobley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marianna over South Walton

Marianna came into this matchup off a tough 28-point loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the South Walton Seahawks by a score of 46-43 on Thursday. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 60-54 to the Seahawks when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Mobley, who shot 43% from the field on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacobi Killings, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points and four steals.

Marianna's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for South Walton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Marianna won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rutherford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Walton, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Arnold at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
