Basketball Recap: St. Thomas More Academy Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against American Leadership Academy-Johnston last Wednesday, St. Thomas More Academy came back down to earth. The match between the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors and the Thales Academy Apex Titans didn't end well, with the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors falling 53-37. The Chancellors haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, St. Thomas More Academy still got an impressive performance from Winnie Dehring, who posted 22 points along with six boards and four steals. Dehring is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played. Adella Dehring was another key player, putting up nine points.

It was another big night for Anna Maass, who earned 20 points for Thales Academy Apex. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Bandholz, who had six points in addition to nine rebounds and seven blocks.

St. Thomas More Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-10. As for Thales Academy Apex, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Thomas More Academy has already played their next contest (against Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Thales Academy Apex will host Friendship Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Thales Academy Apex is facing Friendship Christian at the right time seeing as Friendship Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
