The Adna Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Tenino Beavers at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Adna will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
While Adna's victory against Toledo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates skirted past the Indians 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since April 14th.
Adna got a great performance from Cameron Nakano as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danner Hoinowski, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Tenino never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They didn't even let Hoquiam on the board, marking the Beavers' second-straight 14-0 shutout. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Jack Burkhardt was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Hunter Sweet was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Adna's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Tenino, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Adna has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .547. However, it's not like Tenino struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
