Softball Recap: Elkhorn Has No Trouble Against Palmyra-Eagle

After only two runs in their last contest, Elkhorn made sure to put some runs up on the board against Palmyra-Eagle on Thursday. The Elks blew past the Panthers 12-2. For the Elks, this counts as revenge for the 9-5 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Veronica Siegler spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Elkhorn let Ella Uhlenhake and Ellie Jacobson run wild. Uhlenhake went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and one double, while Jacobson went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Jacobson has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Addison Schliepp, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Elkhorn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmyra-Eagle only posted a batting average of .192.

Elkhorn's record now sits at 18-9. As for Palmyra-Eagle, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhorn will square off against Big Foot at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmyra-Eagle, they will take on Clinton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
