Softball Recap: Community Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Community waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Blackman Blaze. The Vikings/Viqueens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Gracie Daniel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Mattie Maxey was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Community pushed their record up to 19-2-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Blackman, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Community will challenge Grundy County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blackman, they will take on Rockvale at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Rockvale's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Blackman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
