Pioneer Valley Regional put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Monson Mustangs with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Evan Tsipenyuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Mauthe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Werner, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three RBI.

Pioneer Valley Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Pioneer Valley Regional's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Monson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Pioneer Valley Regional will square off against Frontier Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monson, they will challenge South Hadley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
