Basketball Game Preview: Old Saybrook Rams vs. Cromwell Panthers

Old Saybrook is 1-9 against Cromwell since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Old Saybrook Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Cromwell Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Wednesday, Old Saybrook lost to Old Lyme on the road by a 59-41 margin. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cromwell took on Sports & Medical Sciences Academy on Wednesday. Cromwell fell just short of Sports & Medical Sciences Academy by a score of 54-51. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Tigers are ranked 16th).

Cromwell's loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. As for Old Saybrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Old Saybrook came up short against Cromwell in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 61-55. Can Old Saybrook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
