League recap: Rye Neck tops Burke Catholic to extend winning streak

Rye Neck added to the longest winning streak in Section 1 C/D this week by beating Burke Catholic, 47-6. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Panthers.

Rye Neck took down the Eagles 47-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Thomas Pipolo threw for 173 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 10 yards during the win.

Nick Ianello's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Dom Brescia contributed 117 yards. Matt Garcia helped Rye Neck's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 80 yards.

The Panthers' dynamic duo of Pipolo and Ryan Morningstar proved tough for Burke Catholic to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Garcia helped Rye Neck's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 80 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback George Figueroa of Yonkers Montessori Academy is the league leader in passing yards this season with 905. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ryan McCollum. The Haldane star has 24 catches for 570 yards.

Rye Neck made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,631 from 2,163. The improvement was largely due to a 47-6 victory over Ed Van Curen's team last week.
