Basketball Recap: Sacha Loi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tahoka over New Deal

Tahoka came up into this matchup off a tough 51-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the New Deal Lions by a score of 51-48 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost eight in a row.

Tahoka lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sacha Loi, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Watt, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Tahoka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Tahoka's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for New Deal, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-13.

Tahoka will be playing in front of their home fans against Abernathy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Abernathy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 234 points over their last three matches. As for New Deal, they will head out to challenge Floydada at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Floydada's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 contests.
