Baseball Recap: Williston Red Devils vs. Palatka Panthers
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Williston ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Palatka Panthers by a score of 4-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Jacob Loock was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Loock was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Anthony Gardea was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Williston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palatka only posted a batting average of .103.
Williston's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Palatka, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williston will face off against Crescent City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. We've got a battle between Panthers coming up. Palatka is facing Ridgeview at the right time seeing as Ridgeview is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
