Volleyball Recap: Wolcott RVT Takes a Loss

Wolcott RVT entered their contest against Norwich Free Academy on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Wolcott RVT fell just short of Norwich Free Academy by a score of 3-2. If Wolcott RVT was looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to Norwich Free Academy when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Norwich Free Academy scored at least 12 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 15-12.

Norwich Free Academy can attribute much of their success to Jeremy Portillo, who had 17 digs and one assist.

Wolcott RVT's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-3. As for Norwich Free Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Wolcott RVT has already played their next game (against Putnam), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Norwich Free Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Academy of Science and Innovation on the 7th.
