Baseball Game Preview: Paintsville Tigers vs. Johnson Central Golden Eagles

The Paintsville Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Johnson Central Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Paintsville will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Magoffin County on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Hornets.

The team relied heavily on Anderson Lauffer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Riley Jayne also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Johnson Central came tearing into Saturday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Lions. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Paintsville is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Johnson Central, they pushed their record up to 22-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.
