Basketball Recap: Jordan Kulko's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Conneaut over Lakeside

Conneaut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-62 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeside Dragons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-48 back in December of 2024.

Conneaut's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Kulko, who posted 19 points. With that strong performance, Kulko is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Noah Hamm, who had 18 points.

Conneaut's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Lakeside, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-14.

Conneaut will take on Wickliffe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wickliffe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Conneaut likes a good challenge. Lakeside has already played their next game, a 77-71 win against Chardon on the 1st.
