For the second straight game, Head-Royce will face off against Athenian. The Jayhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Owls at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Head-Royce is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Head-Royce can't be too worried about heading out to take on Athenian: they just beat Athenian at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Jayhawks narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Owls 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Jayhawks in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won five in a row.

Davis Lynch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Caleb Roth was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Head-Royce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Head-Royce's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Athenian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
