Softball Recap: Gridley's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five contests, Gridley finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They lost 14-2 to the Las Plumas Thunderbirds. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Delanie Cloyd made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Gridley's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3. As for Las Plumas, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gridley will square off against Orland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Las Plumas, they will head out to take on Oroville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
