Summertown hadn't done well against Spring Hill recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ryder Blackwood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Elijah Huckaba looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Quint Smith was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cason Blackwood, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Summertown pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Spring Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Summertown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-4 victory against Lawrence County on the 11th. Spring Hill has also already played their next contest (against Warren County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
