Baseball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

Wheeler was the 9-5 winner over Landmark when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors lost 15-9 to the Vikings on Wednesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ben Diaz stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Wheeler: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Scarcella, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Wheeler's record now sits at 5-8-1. As for Landmark, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler will square off against Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Landmark, they will face off against Bancroft at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
