Soccer Game Preview: Tarboro vs. Bear Grass Charter

The Tarboro Vikings will head out to challenge the Bear Grass Charter Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarboro's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tarboro came up short against SouthWest Edgecombe on Thursday, falling 9-1. Nalani Sanders was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on her (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Tarboro's goal came courtesy of Jada Williams, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Bear Grass Charter and Camden County faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Thursday. The Bears lost 4-0 to the Bruins. While losing is never fun, Bear Grass Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 430th, while Camden County are ranked 196th).

Tarboro's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Bear Grass Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8-1 record this season.

Tarboro suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Bear Grass Charter in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
