Basketball Recap: Kearney Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Kearney had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 57-46 victory over the Fort Osage Indians. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Indians are ranked 279th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kearney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maggie Lakin led the charge by shooting 67% from the field en route to 19 points and six boards. Those 19 points gave Lakin a new career-high. Brooke Paalhar was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Kearney was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They are 12-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Kearney's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Fort Osage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Kearney won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Excelsior Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Osage, they will take on Truman at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
