Basketball Recap: West Florida Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kamora Harris and Amani Bartholomew

It was a proper cat-fight when West Florida challenged Pensacola on Tuesday. The West Florida Jaguars lost to the Pensacola Tigers on the road by a 50-33 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, West Florida had strong showings from Amani Bartholomew, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and six steals, and Kamora Harris, who put up nine points. West Florida is 6-2 when Bartholomew posts five or more steals, but 2-3 otherwise.

Even though they lost, West Florida smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

West Florida's record now sits at 8-5. As for Pensacola, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

West Florida will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Centennial at 7:50 p.m. on December 27th. Centennial will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something West Florida surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pensacola, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-23 victory against Alexandria on the 20th.
