Basketball Recap: St. Raymond Boys Falls Short Against Ranked Patrick School

St. Raymond Boys is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Patrick School. The St. Raymond Boys Ravens fell just short of the Patrick School Celtics by a score of 72-70. The Ravens were not able to make up for their defeat to the Celtics from their previous meeting back in December of 2016.

Loss or not, St. Raymond Boys got some senior leadership from Brandon Stores, Jr. and Tai Turnage. Stores, Jr. went 10 of 25 en route to 31 points, while Turnage went 5 for 10 on his way to 22 points. Stores, Jr. is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 11 games he's played.

Patrick School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Lee out in front who posted 22 points. Kuai Deng was another key player, putting up 19 points.

St. Raymond Boys has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points per game. As for Patrick School, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

St. Raymond Boys will head out to face off against Xaverian at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Patrick School, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 90-87 win against Broome Street Academy on the 25th.
