Division I Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Chris Ciarniello Sets Career High in Rushing Yards

Starting off the list is North Kingstown's Chris Ciarniello, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Ciarniello made 15 total tackles, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

Ciarniello must have Portsmouth's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Ciarniello made 14 total tackles and snagged an interception the last time he and the Patriots duked it out back in September of 2023.

Big Game from Spencer As Cumberland Fell 35-22

While Evan Spencer delivered a dominant performance on Friday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Cumberland. Spencer turned in nothing short of a gem, throwing for 197 yards and a touchdown on only 16 passes, while also rushing for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Bishop Hendricken's probably not too fond of Spencer given he always seems to get the better of them. Spencer rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 113 yards on ten of 17 attempts the last time he and the Hawks duked it out back in September.

Sean Taylor Turns in Season-Best Effort

Sadly, Sean Taylor posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Cumberland over Bishop Hendricken on Friday. Taylor picked up 63 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. He was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 54 yards.

For the year, Taylor has run in those 1 touchdown while averaging 7.5 rushing yards per game.
