Basketball Recap: Chalker Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Julia Ross and Abby Grimm

Chalker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-29 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bristol Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-36 back in December of 2024.

Chalker's loss came despite strong showings from Abby Grimm and Julia Ross. Grimm dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Ross posted five points and nine boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bristol to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Church, who scored seven points along with eight boards and five steals. Church has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Imhoff, who had 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Chalker's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Bristol, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing St. John the next time they take the court. Chalker will head out to face St. John at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Bristol will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
