Volleyball Game Preview: Desert Hills Thunder vs. Spanish Fork Dons

The Desert Hills Thunder will venture away from home to square off against the Spanish Fork Dons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Desert Hills will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Desert Hills proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Pine View 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Desert Hills had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 27-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Spanish Fork faced Maple Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Dons fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Dons' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Spanish Fork couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Maple Mountain a tough time in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-16, 21-25, 28-30, 15-9.

Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Spanish Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Desert Hills might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Spanish Fork in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
