Basketball Game Preview: Neville Tigers vs. Alexandria Trojans

The Neville Tigers will be playing at home against the Alexandria Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Neville is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Northwood 48-46. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Falcons are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Alexandria had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 victory over the Raiders.

Neville better keep an eye on Jordyn Johnson. He was instrumental in Alexandria's win, going 9 for 22 en route to 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Alexandria's points. Another player making a difference was Tyshawn Duncan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Neville has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Alexandria, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
