Softball Recap: Calumet New Tech Warriors vs. Whiting Oilers
Calumet New Tech extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They came up short against the Whiting Oilers, falling 18-0. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 26-10 to the Oilers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Whiting, their record is now 5-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.
For Whiting's part, the team relied heavily on Arianna Vianello, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Kender, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calumet New Tech will head out to square off against Gary West Side at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.75 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Whiting, they will venture away from home to take on Hebron at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
