Football Recap: Unity Reed Takes a Loss

Unity Reed extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-10. They had to suffer through a 35-6 loss at the hands of the Battlefield Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 41st).

As for Battlefield, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won six games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Battlefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Blackstock, who rushed for 24 yards and two scores. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Blackstock a new career-high.

Unity Reed does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Battlefield, they will face off against Forest Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
