Softball Game Preview: Mount Union Trojans vs. Tussey Mountain Titans

The Mount Union Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Tussey Mountain Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Things were looking good for Mount Union after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Curwensville, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, Tussey Mountain entered their tilt with Southern Huntingdon County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 12-7. Tussey Mountain's win was all the more impressive since the Rockets were averaging only 3.14 runs allowed on the season.

Adyson Weyandt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Aubree Weaver was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tussey Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Tussey Mountain pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Mount Union, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Mount Union might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Tussey Mountain in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
