Softball Game Preview: High Point Christian Academy Cougars vs. Grace Christian Crusaders

For the second straight game, High Point Christian Academy will face off against Grace Christian. The Cougars will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. High Point Christian Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

High Point Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Grace Christian with a sharp 16-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Paisley Dixon made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Maci Burkhart and Laci Jarrell did most of the damage at the plate: Burkhart went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Jarrell scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Jarrell has posted since back in February of 2024. Landyn Smith was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

High Point Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

High Point Christian Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Grace Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

Grace Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday.
