Flag Football Recap: Mesa Comes Up Short

Mesa fell victim to Highland and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Hawks, falling 62-0. The Jackrabbits lost against the Hawks in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 35-0 score last time.

Alexis Eley produced another solid performance throwing for 247 yards and six TDs while completing 82.6% of her passes, and also rushing for 103 yards and one score for Highland. The dominant performance also gave Eley a new career-high in passer rating (155.3). Another player making a difference was Aylleen Murillo, who picked up 34 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Mesa now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Highland, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Mesa will challenge Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 8.2 points per game this season, so the Jackrabbits' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Highland, they will face off against Chandler at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hawks 6.4, the Wolves 14.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
