Basketball Recap: Wilcox County Takes a Loss

If Wilcox County was riding high fresh off their 57-27 takedown of Dooly County on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brooks County Trojans on Saturday. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 58-45.

Leading Brooks County to victory were Colten Gosier and Anton Graham. Gosier dropped a double-double with 21 points and 15 boards, while Graham dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Gosier has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Butts, who posted ten points and five boards.

Wilcox County's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Brooks County, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Wilcox County will host Wheeler County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brooks County, they will head out on the road to take on Atkinson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
