Football Recap: Miller Rebels vs. La Sierra Eagles
Miller took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the La Sierra Eagles 28-27. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Rebels were the better team in the second half.
Miller had a senior duo take command as Stanley Leslie gained 101 total yards and two touchdowns and Jacob Sauceda rushed for 92 yards on only 11 carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Miller's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
La Sierra's loss came despite strong showings from Shawn Childs and Steven Moore. Childs rushed for 153 yards and a pair of scores, while Moore threw for 180 yards and one touchdown while completing 84.6% of his passes.
Looking ahead, Miller will host Citrus Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Sierra, they will head out on the road to challenge West Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
