Baseball Game Preview: Chavez Eagles vs. Monroe Vikings

For the second straight game, Chavez will face off against Monroe. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Chavez's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Monroe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Chavez came up short against Monroe and fell 4-1. The Eagles have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Xavier Salas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chavez saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Uribe, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Uribe is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Emmanuel Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
