Softball Recap: Mcqueen Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for McQueen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Reed Raiders 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted against the Raiders since May 4, 2023.

Violet Moyao was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Moyao was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Montana Huitt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

McQueen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive matchups.

McQueen's record is now 16-13. As for Reed, they moved to 24-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McQueen will head out to challenge Reno at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Reed, they will venture away from home to square off against Spanish Springs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 3, the Cougars 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
