Baseball Recap: Wyandotte Comes Up Short

Wyandotte had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it seven. They lost 17-2 to the Harmon Hawks. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Wyandotte saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Dockery, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

As for Harmon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Harmon's side, Gibson Miller looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Miller also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Hawks are undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Harmon got a massive performance out of Izak Tovar, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Tovar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chad Taylor, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Wyandotte will face off against Highland Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harmon, they will host Northeast at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.76 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
