Recap: Kosciusko Whippets vs. Scott Central Rebels
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Hope, the Kosciusko Whippets were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-39 win over Scott Central. Given Kosciusko's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Scott Central is ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Kosciusko to victory were Jaybre Pierce and Andrew Mancell. Pierce scored 19 points, while Mancell dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Cory Guyton, who scored seven points along with six assists.
Kosciusko has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Scott Central, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Kosciusko won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McAdams at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. McAdams will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Scott Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Coffeeville at 1:50 p.m. on December 29th.
