Softball Recap: Whitko Takes a Loss

Whitko fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Rochester on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Zebras by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Zebras: they've now lost four in a row.

Addie Garr spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Whitko saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Long, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Whitko's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Rochester, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Whitko will take on rival Peru at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Rochester is set to face off against their familiar foe Lewis Cass at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
