Basketball Recap: Springstead Comes Up Short

Springstead and Leesburg squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Springstead had to settle for second. They were dealt a 77-31 defeat at the hands of the Leesburg Yellow Jackets. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost three in a row.

Springstead lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alejandro Arenas, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. Ryan Sayre was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Leesburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angelo Moton led the charge by posting 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Brown, who had 12 points.

Springstead's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Leesburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Springstead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Leesburg, they have already played their next contest, a 57-46 win against Lecanto on the 7th.
