Baseball Recap: Lyons' Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Lyons dropped their record down to 15-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Lockport Porters by a score of 3-1. The Lions were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Porters' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Lockport, their record now sits at 13-7. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Lyons: they've now won three in a row.

For Lockport's part, Trace Schaaf looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Schaaf has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Drew Satunas was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Lyons and Lockport should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Lions will take on Leyden at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (37 vs. 343). Meanwhile, Lockport (ranked 33rd) will meet Joliet West (ranked 158th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
