Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Asheboro). In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 29-28 victory over the Southern Alamance Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-18 last Thursday.

Asheboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adalynn Scherer led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. Scherer is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katie Jones, who posted eight points.

When it comes to explaining why Southern Alamance lost on Monday, don't look at Sarah Kathryn Maness. Despite the final result, she put up 19 points in addition to six boards and four steals. That's the most steals Maness has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayla Shaw, who had three points and three steals.

The win made it two in a row for Asheboro and bumps their season record up to 2-5. As for Southern Alamance, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Asheboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-18 loss against Uwharrie Charter Academy on the 18th. As for Southern Alamance, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-15 defeat against Union Pines on the 17th.
