Football Recap: Riverdale Raiders vs. Fort Myers Green Wave

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Riverdale had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed an 18-14 victory over the Fort Myers Green Wave. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 28-13 defeat the last time these two teams met.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Lovensky Blanchard and Cole Hayes. Blanchard rushed for 200 yards while picking up 11.8 yards per carry while Hayes rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns. With that strong performance, Blanchard is now averaging an impressive 106.7 rushing yards per game.

Riverdale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ky'Moni Gordon and Latroy Pender Jr..

The win made it two in a row for Riverdale and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for Fort Myers, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Riverdale will challenge Manatee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Manatee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Riverdale likes a good challenge. Fort Myers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
