Basketball Recap: Sandia Prep Gets the Win

If Menaul wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sandia Prep, they should've done a better job of containing Maddy Weisler. The Sandia Prep Sundevils took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 61-29 win over the Menaul Panthers thanks in part to Weisler, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in January.

The team also got some help courtesy of Madlyn Dopson, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Menaul lost, don't look at Coral Apodaca. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Dakota Serrano, who had two points and five boards.

The victory got Sandia Prep back to even at 1-1. As for Menaul, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Sandia Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 37-29 win against Lordsburg on the 5th. As for Menaul, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-18 loss against Cibola on the 5th.
