Recap: Williamsville Bullets vs. St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans
The Williamsville Bullets were the 52-48 winner over the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Williamsville's tough 69-48 loss to St. Joseph-Ogden on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. Williamsville has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Williamsville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brayden Saling, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, and Brecken Thomas who scored 12 points. The matchup was Saling's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carson Kohler, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Williamsville struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Williamsville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for St. Joseph-Ogden, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Williamsville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Athens at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th. Athens will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Williamsville is ranked 123rd). As for St. Joseph-Ogden, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Pinckneyville at 6:30 p.m.
