Soccer Game Preview: Ursuline Academy vs. St. Mark's

Ursuline Academy hasn't had much luck against St. Mark recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will welcome the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ursuline Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Delcastle Technical, who was ranked 19th at the time (Ursuline Academy was ranked 24th). The Raiders walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cougars on Monday.

Meanwhile, St. Mark's waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Hillers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for St. Mark's, who have now won six contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Ursuline Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for St. Mark's, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Ursuline Academy beat St. Mark's by a goal when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 2-1. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
