Basketball Game Preview: Sagemont Prep vs. Utah Prep Athletes

Two dominant guards in Kevin Thomas and AJ Dybantsa Jr. are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sagemont Prep will square off against the Utah Prep Athletes at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sagemont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Sagemont is headed into the match having just posted their biggest win since November 25, 2024 on Monday. They blew past Somerset Academy, posting an 82-53 victory. Given the Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Panthers are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Utah Prep's good fortune finally ran out last Sunday. They took a 74-60 bruising from Montverde Academy.

Sagemont will have to keep a close watch on Dybantsa Jr. and Anthony Felesi, a pair of players who had a big impact on Utah Prep's prior game. Dybantsa Jr. dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Felesi dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. That's the most points Felesi has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Kiss, who posted nine points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Utah Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montverde Academy only pulled down nine offensive boards.

Utah Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Sagemont, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.
